Overview

Sequentis is a French wine producer and online shop focused entirely on PIWI varieties, the disease-resistant grape crossings often referred to in French as cépages résistants. It looks like a fairly recent project, probably emerging around 2022–2023 based on site activity, although there is no clear founding date stated anywhere. The co-founder mentioned both on the website and in a March 2025 Le Petit Ballon interview is Arthur Houvet, who is also connected to the distillery Chez Sabourin. The identity of his partner is not really made clear.

Legal and location

There is no physical address shown on the website itself. The legal information points to Guitinières in Charente-Maritime, which matches external references tied to Houvet. Some wine databases place the project in the Sud-Ouest, but this is not directly confirmed.

The PIWI wines

The site presents three cuvées, all Vin de France, typical for hybrid grapes outside appellations.

Reflet is a white made from Floréal, linked to Villaris and Muscadinia lineage, fresh and aromatic with exotic fruit and muscat hints.

Tandem 2023 is based on Souvignier gris, with mixed origin descriptions (Cabernet Sauvignon/Bronner or Muscat/Solaris). It is citrus-driven and expressive.

Miroir is a red blend of Monarch and Vidoc, the latter from the INRAE ResDur programme. It is supple with dark fruit and spice.

All wines are 12% ABV, 75cl bottles, sold mainly in six-bottle cases. Prices: Reflet €9.90, Tandem €11.80, Miroir €12.80.

Philosophy

Sequentis claims PIWI vines reduce chemical treatments by up to 100%, with Arthur Houvet citing around 90% depending on conditions. The estate uses recycled labels, no capsules, strip closures, and stainless steel ageing.

Sector engagement

Houvet and his partner created Vinea, an early French fair dedicated to resistant grape varieties. Sequentis also participated in Wine Paris with other PIWI producers, promoting climate-resilient viticulture.
